pink agave

The design analysis

Agave only produces once in its lifetime, ending in a fatal and dramatic death through a process called monocarpy. It can live up to 30 years old until finally growing a massively beautiful flower stalk out of its heart, also known as a "death spear". As soon as it blossoms, the agave's spear drives through the ground, spreads its seeds, and dies. Thus, new agave plants are able to grow and repeat the same tragic, yet extraordinary, cycle of life and death.

Taking a break from UI/UX, I decided to explore design through other passions. In this case, it was music. My goal was to conceptualize an album art design that resonated with the ambience of pink agave, through visual expression. I eventually decided on the theme of my project to represent the concept of solitude, self-destructive experiences, and eventually, self-discovery.

For me, pink agave serves as a reminder for mindfulness and represents the empowering, yet sometimes painful, journey towards self realization and acceptance.
